XY-13 is a column. Narrow square footprint, straight vertical walls, a rounded shoulder that lifts into a short neck, and a base so thick the glass reads almost like a solid block at the bottom. At 100 ml it stands about 15 cm tall on a 4.5 cm face — one of the slimmest proportions in the in-stock program, and the reason buyers pick it when the shelf plan is vertical rather than wide.
This page gives the measured stock specification, the container arithmetic that follows from it, and the practical consequences of the shape: where the label goes, how decoration behaves on a narrow face, and which closure keeps the column looking clean.

Two numbers matter for your cost model: 200 g of glass per unit, and a 14 cm tall carton — the height is what makes the XY-13 slightly less cube-efficient than a 13 cm carton at the same piece count.
The Column Silhouette and Retail Consequence
A tall narrow bottle changes how a range looks on shelf: a 100 ml XY-13 beside a pair of 30 ml bottles reads as the flagship because it rises above the line, and you get that hierarchy from the mould rather than from a taller cap. Our note on bottle height and shelf presence walks through the retail maths behind that effect, including the point at which extra height stops adding perceived value and starts looking awkward in a standard shelf gap.
The walls on this body are straight, and the shoulder radius is small. In the photo the black cylindrical overcap sits flush with the neck and continues the vertical line almost to the top, so the whole assembly reads as one object. If you want that effect, the cap diameter is the constraint — a wider cap breaks the column and pushes the shelf footprint up.
The heavy base is doing real work here. With a 4.5 cm face and a tall body, a thin base would make the bottle feel top-heavy once the pump is fitted; the photo shows a thick glass pad with a shallow internal dome, the standard way to combine apparent weight with a stable standing surface.
Suits: oud and amber fragrances sold in dark glass or with a black assembly, niche and independent lines that want a pharmacy-bottle reference without an apothecary bulge, and travel-retail 100 ml where a narrow profile fits a dense shelf tray. For men’s launches, the column with a matte black cap is close to a default choice — see men’s perfume bottle design language for what else is being done with the same geometry.
Label Real Estate: Print or Label?
The flat face on XY-13 is narrow. That is a genuine design constraint, not a defect: a 4.5 cm wide panel leaves room for a vertical wordmark, a short descriptor and a volume line, and not much else. Buyers usually resolve it one of three ways.
- Direct print — one or two colours silk screened along the face, with legal text moved to the base or the back. Cleanest look, and no label edge to lift.
- Small label — a narrow roll-fed label on the front face, duplex or clear-on-clear. Cheapest to change between SKUs because nothing is printed on the glass.
- Wrap or partial wrap — used less on narrow columns because the radius at the corners fights adhesion.
The cost and durability comparison between printing and labelling is set out in label vs direct print. Decide between option 1 and option 2 before approving decoration: the two take different artwork files and a different sample round.
Carton Data and Container Loading
| Metric | 20 GP | 40 HQ |
|---|---|---|
| Carton volume | 0.0228 CBM | 0.0228 CBM |
| Cartons by cube (28 / 68 CBM usable) | 1,225 | 2,975 |
| Cartons by payload (25 / 26 t) | 1,666 | 1,733 |
| Practical cartons | 1,225 | 1,733 |
| Bottles | 85,750 pcs | 121,310 pcs |
| Gross weight | 18.4 t | 26.0 t |
The 40 HQ on XY-13 is weight-limited: 1,733 cartons reach 26 t while roughly 1,200 cartons of cube remain unused. If you are shipping a mixed range, this is a body to place first and fill the residual space with lighter items such as caps, collars or outer cartons. On a 20 GP the position reverses — cube runs out at 1,225 cartons and the container sails at 18.4 t, which means a 20 GP is a poor economic choice for this bottle on its own and a reasonable one only as a part-load.
Pallet planning on a 48 × 34 cm carton is covered in carton and pallet specs; with a 14 cm carton height you get a lower layer count per pallet than with a 13 cm carton, which changes the per-pallet freight allocation slightly.
Decoration on a Narrow Face
Because the printable area is small, decoration choices on XY-13 tend to be about finish rather than graphics:
- Spray coating — gloss black, matte black, deep colours, or a two-tone where the base band stays clear. A dark body with a clear base window is a common way to let the customer see the juice level.
- Two-tone and gradient — the vertical walls take a clean gradient because there is no shoulder break in the middle of the panel; masking detail is in our two-tone spray guide.
- Vacuum metallization — full mirror plating is possible but on a tall column it reads as a metal tube; most buyers use it on the cap only.
- Frosting / etching — full-body acid etch gives a soft, premium surface and hides fingerprints, which matters on a narrow bottle that gets handled.
- Hot stamping — a single foil block on the shoulder or a thin base band is the most space-efficient luxury cue.
If your artwork needs more surface than the face allows, the answer is a different mold, not a busier design. Send the artwork with your quote request and we will flag it before you commit to samples.
Closures and Assembled Look
The XY-13 has a 15 mm crimp finish. On a narrow column the accessory choice is visually dominant, so it is worth deciding early:
- Aluminium cylindrical overcap — matches the stock photo and keeps the line continuous.
- ABS or surlyn cap with a plated band — cheaper than aluminium at the same perceived quality, and available in matte finishes.
- Zamac cap — heaviest and most expensive, used when the cap is itself a feature.
All three come from the same accessory stock as the bottle, so one purchase order covers glass, pump, collar and cap. Our cap types comparison and zamac vs surlyn vs ABS pages cover the material differences; for the pump itself, crimp vs screw explains why a crimp finish is the default for a retail seal.
One assembly note specific to tall bottles: check the dip tube length. A 100 ml column is deep, and a tube cut for a shorter body will leave product stranded at the bottom — a common cause of “the bottle stopped spraying before it was empty” complaints.
Compare Within the 100 ml Slot
Alternatives worth costing against XY-13: XY-3 100 ml for a wider footprint, XF-19 100 ml for a rounded-corner rectangle, WX-3 100 ml for a different shoulder treatment. Where the brief is a shorter, wider bottle, the 100 ml vs 125 ml comparison covers the shelf and unit-cost trade-off.
Sampling, MOQ and Lead Time
The mold exists, so there is no tooling cost. Clear stock samples ship quickly; a decorated sample with your colour and print generally takes 7–15 days from colour approval. Glass production typically runs 15–25 days after golden-sample sign-off, with decoration added on top. MOQ is set by the decoration line, not by the glass — tell us the quantity you actually intend to order and we will confirm what is economic at that volume. The sampling process page explains what each sample round is for.

FAQ
What is the MOQ for the XY-13 100 ml bottle?
No tooling MOQ, because the mold is in production. Clear bottles can be sampled in cartons; decorated orders need enough volume for the spray or print run to be economic. Confirm with your quantity.
How tall is the XY-13 with the cap fitted?
The bottle is about 15 cm; assembled height adds the pump and overcap and depends on the accessory chosen. The accessory sheet issued with your quotation carries the assembled height.
Is the neck crimp or screw?
The stock sheet lists a 15 mm crimp neck. If you need a screw finish for refilling, ask — the same family is quoted in a screw variant.
Can I print on all four faces?
You can, but the two narrow side faces take little artwork. Most buyers print the front and back and laser-mark the base.
How many units fit in a 20 GP?
About 1,225 cartons, or 85,750 pieces — cube-limited, at roughly 18.4 t gross. A 40 HQ carries about 121,300 pieces, weight-limited.
